The next-generation leaders have already understood the value of good mentoring to get better and effective results from their employees. The development through a mentor is far much better than working all by yourself. A good mentor has good experience in their particular field and can guide with their experience for the betterment of their mentees.

Here are 5 simple tips to mentor next generation:

    • Consider personalities:
    • Don’t misrepresent yourself:
    • Don’t hold back:
    • Make time:
    • Be available:

    Consider personalities:

“The barriers are not erected which can say to aspiring talents and industry, ‘Thus far and no farther.'” said Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer and pianist. Ludwig van Beethoven remains one of the most admired composers in the history of Western music; his works rank amongst the most performed of the classical music repertoire, and span the transition from the classical period to the romantic era in classical music.

If you choose to provide your mentorship to someone, it’s better to understand their personality first. If you were an angry young man in your time then try to address those experiences so that your mentee can understand your guidance. If your mentee is shy then try to encourage them to share their views and thoughts with you so that you can help them in better ways. If both of you have the same type of temperament then it will be easy for the learning and teaching process.

    Don’t misrepresent yourself:

You are indeed an experienced person but can be the possibility that you are not an expert in a particular field. Never be afraid of accepting your failure and asking for any help. You can use this as a teaching point that can influence their mentees to be confident and never be shy to ask for help. As a mentor, you have already seen the success and you will have plenty of highlights in your career but showing that off in front of your mentees is just like bragging, so never do that.

    Don’t hold back:

As a mentor, you will have lots of guidance and information to share, but withholding the information and providing simple and easy tricks to your mentees will never help them succeed. As an experienced individual, it is your responsibility to provide your mentees with complete information that can help them in developing new skills and improving their work in an effective way.

    Make time:

It is the job of a mentor to give full commitment to their mentees. Many mentors find it helpful to get a newer official for their help. When a mentor is willing to provide their valuable time and energy in improving their mentees, then the mentees will form a trust in their mentors and also they can learn from their mentors about time management and different other skills. Also as a mentor, you can take your newer official on-field which can be a great way for mentoring.

    Be available:

As a mentor, you should always be available when your mentees need you to form a better understanding among both. It is not necessary that you need to be available in person; you can also assist them through emails, calls, or messages. Also, you can set regular meeting times so that you will always be aware of your mentee’s performance.
