In today’s business world, change is the only constant. With rapid changes and unfavourable economic conditions, many organisations fail to overcome and adapt to these changes. This is where the business analyst comes in.

Business analysts (BA) are professionals who conduct analysis and determine the changes organisations require for overall growth. They ensure that advanced technology measures are taken whenever a change is detected.

This article will delve deeper into the business analyst roles and responsibilities, giving you a clear picture of how you can advance your career in this field.

    Business Analyst Roles and Responsibilities

    1. Sorting business requirements

The first important role of business analysts in agile practices is to sort ‘what does a business need’. It would necessitate a thorough examination of the current business model and workplace operations. Furthermore, the analyst should compare it to market advancements to identify areas for improvement.

    1. Conducting meetings with stakeholders and developing team

While working on a project, business analysts are responsible for coordinating with both stakeholders and the development team. When a new feature or update is added to a project, business analysts must first understand and communicate it to stakeholders and clients. Once they have received approval, they will instruct the development team to make the necessary changes. All these tasks should be completed seamlessly to avoid miscommunication and achieve positive results.

    1. Determining possibilities

Once the business analyst discusses the plans with the concerned team, the next task is to determine the possibility based on budget, time, resources, etc. The developers and other concerned teams discuss the options and possibilities. And if the necessity continues, analysts may need to revise their strategy.

    1. Present the plan and conduct training

Once the project plan is complete, business analysts must present it to the staff and other members involved in the change. The team becomes acquainted with the changes and may require training to adapt to them. It is once again the responsibility of business analysts to provide the necessary training to ensure everyone is working toward the same goal.

    1. Project implementation and testing

Another critical role of business analysts is to ensure successful implementation. They delegate tasks to teams concerned with infrastructure changes or technological advancements. These experts, whose strategies are under question, manage the entire project.

The work of business analysts does not end with implementation. They also have to stay put during the testing phase, so everything goes according to plan and expectations.

    1. Problem solving

One of the most vital business analyst roles and responsibilities is problem solving while working on a project. They must identify problems or laggard areas in a business process and find appropriate solutions. So, their analytics expertise will help pinpoint the underlying causes of the problem and the most effective course of action.

    1. Maintenance

When organisational processes and operations are on track and producing the best results, the role of business analysts is to maintain that pace. They ensure every task and operation is on track and no further changes are required.

If they discover an error or a defect in the system, they notify the appropriate team and get it fixed. Furthermore, if technological advancements are required for organisational growth, they ensure the organisation adapts to them.

    Take Away

After reading this article, you may have realised how important business analyst roles and responsibilities are to the organisation’s growth. You may have also gained an understanding of the skills and challenges required to work in this domain.

If you find them appealing and want to advance your career in the field, you may want to consider taking online professional courses from top institutes in India to obtain an advanced certificate in business analytics. These professional courses will train you in the necessary skills to help you get the best job opportunities.
